The Business Administration major traces its roots to the International Enterprise Management major established in 1989. Today, it encompasses academic master's programs (including enterprise management and an all-English master's program), MBA, and EMBA programs. Known for its "internationalization, interdisciplinary approach, and broad perspective," the program focuses on developing foundational knowledge, operational skills, management expertise, and leadership abilities. It integrates the latest international management theories and practices, offering case studies from globally renowned and internationally-oriented Chinese enterprises. The program emphasizes experiential learning, featuring a behavioral laboratory and internship bases. Students can participate in exchange programs across multiple countries. Graduates are primarily employed by leading enterprises in Shanghai and other regions of China, with some pursuing further studies. The program aims to cultivate innovative, internationally-minded business management professionals equipped to thrive in a market economy.

The Business Administration major at East China University of Science and Technology originated from the International Business Management major established in 1989. After years of development, it now has an academic master's degree in Business Administration (including majors such as Business Management and a full - English master's program for international students), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) for training professional managers, and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). The characteristics of this major are "internationalization, comprehensiveness and broad - gauge". In the curriculum setting, the cultivation of four abilities is highlighted, including basic abilities, business capabilities, management abilities and leadership skills. To cultivate business capabilities, courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Industrial Economics, Consumer Behavior, Market Research, Marketing Management and Business Models are offered; to cultivate management abilities, courses such as Management Principles, Accounting, Psychology, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior and Management Communication are offered; to cultivate leadership skills, courses such as Strategic Management, Corporate Entrepreneurship Management, Global Strategic Management, Multinational Company Management, Leadership and Corporate Politics are offered. In order to cultivate first - class managers and entrepreneurs in the future, in the teaching process, emphasis is placed on introducing the latest international management theories and experiences, and a large number of cases about international famous enterprises and Chinese international representative enterprises are provided; importance is attached to experimental teaching, and a behavioral laboratory has been established, enabling students to be in a simulated management environment to solve management problems and improve management skills; the cultivation of students' management practice abilities is emphasized, rich teaching resources are integrated, and internship bases are established to provide students with internship opportunities. Students of this major can apply for many international exchange programs, and the countries carrying out the programs include the United States, France, Germany, Italy and so on. The graduates of this major mainly work in leading enterprises in Shanghai and other parts of China, and some students continue to pursue postgraduate studies at home and abroad.
The Business Administration major is committed to cultivating professional management talents who can meet the requirements of the modern market economy, have innovative consciousness, team spirit and international vision, have solid business and management knowledge, are familiar with the conventions and rules of enterprise management, and master modern management methods and skills. - 1 . Chinese-taught Programs: Minimum HSK 4 score required (190+ for science and engineering majors; 210+ for humanities and business majors; minimum 60 in writing). Applicants with degrees from previous Chinese-taught programs are exempt from HSK requirements.
- 2 . Applicants without language scores may submit provisional applications but must provide proof of English proficiency to receive the final admission offer.
- 3 . Completion of high school with a diploma or higher academic qualification.
- 4 . No criminal record and good physical and mental health.
- 5 . Minimum age of 16; applicants under 18 must provide a letter of guarantee from a legally recognized adult guardian residing in China.
1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)
Type A: Bilateral Program / ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (ACYLS) / EU Program / AUN Program / China-Africa Friendship Program, etc.
Steps to Apply:
Step 1: Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in your home country for CGS opportunities.
Step 2: Contact the College of International Education to obtain a Pre-Admission Notice.
Step 3: Visit the CGS Information Management System for International Students, submit your online application, and select East China University of Science and Technology as the application institution.
Step 4: Submit all your application documents to the dispatching authorities before the deadline and download the application form.
Type B: High-level Postgraduate Program / Belt and Road Program, etc.

Use the agency number 10251 for East China University of Science and Technology when applying.

2. Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS)
Visit the Shanghai Government Scholarship Online Application System to submit your online application and download the application form.
For detailed information about CGS Type A, refer to the official CGS website and the notice from your home country’s local international student dispatch department.
Information for CGS Type B and SGS will be notified separately.
Submit your application online:
Visit the ECUST online application system to register and upload your application documents following the system prompts. Please ensure you submit only one application; duplicate applications are not allowed.
Pay the application fee of 600 CNY:
If online payment is not possible, please transfer the application fee to ECUST’s official bank account and email the remittance receipt to cie@ecust.edu.cn.
Note: Your application will be considered invalid if the application fee is not paid. The fee is non-refundable once paid.
