    Please carefully check your visa type and read the following instructions:

    X1 Visa:

    Students holding an X1 visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entering China. The following materials include:

    * Admission Letter and JW201/JW202 Form

    * Original passport and a copy, including:

       * First page

       * Visa page or current valid residence certificate page

       * Last entry airport seal page

The College of International Education (CIE) provides guidance for students to complete their physical examination or verify existing medical reports (issued within the last 6 months) at designated hospitals in Shanghai.

Please note: The residence permit process typically takes about one month. Therefore, you must plan your travel carefully and register on the designated date specified in your Admission Notice. Early arrival is not recommended, as your visa might expire before the rX2 Visa:

The number of entries allowed and the permitted duration of each stay (in days after each entry) are clearly stated on your visa. Students must be aware of their visa expiration date and register on the designated date stated in the Admission Notice.

2. For International Students Already Residing in China

Please check your visa type and the following requirements carefully:

Residence Permit:

Ensure there are at least 7 days remaining on your residence permit validity at the date of registration. After registration, you must apply for a new residence permit for study.

Other Visa Types:

Ensure there are at least 15 days remaining on your current visa’s duration of stay at registration. After registration, you must apply for a residence permit or change your visa to a study-purpose visa.

Stay Permit:

You cannot apply for a new visa or residence permit inside China with a stay permit visa. You must exit China and apply for a new study-purpose visa at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate abroad. Then, re-enter China and register with the new visa.
