On the afternoon of 12th April, 25 international students from 15 countries, including Thailand, Italy, South Korea and Iceland, participated in our cultural practice activity of "Chinese Cuisine Workshop". Two ECUST chefs have taught the detailed steps of "Kung Pao Chicken" and "Chinese Pan-cakes". After the tutorial, five groups of students work in groups to produce their own version of dishes. At the end of the workshop, winning team was selected by the chef based on the taste and comprehensive performance.
This immersive experience, from cutting vegetables to stir-frying, from dazzling seasoning to determining the "right amount", every step is a "delicious" fresh memory for international students. The students appreciated the opportunity to learn authentic Chinese food.
“Thank you very much to all teachers, chefs and staffs for organizing the good event and inviting us to participate. It has been funny to make Chinese food and snack. All dishes are delicious. I’m so happy to join this event especially seeing all together and having seeing the prettiest smiles on all faces.”
——PHUSSADEE HAWACHARAPORN from Thailand
“I enjoyed cooking traditional Chinese meals with professional chefs. I believe food is so much more than just fuel for your body, it builds bridges between cultures and gives insight into one’s background. Food is tradition, celebration, connection, and so much more. Very beautiful experience.”
——SOLANGE MARCHI from Italy
“Being a cooking lover and participating for the first time in a cooking activity was too much fun for me since you see how people from different countries have different ways and techniques to cook a meal, and the activity made me talk with other students and get to know them, their favourite Chinese dishes, and the local ones.”
