Professor Sai Gu - Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancelor of the University of Warwick visited ECUST

On the morning of April 10th, Professor Sai Gu, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick, and Ms. Emily Lim, Associate Director of International Strategy and Relations, visited our university. The visit was hosted by Vice President Professor Haifeng Yan, who chaired the meeting.
Vice President Yan warmly welcomed Professor Gu and expressed appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the two institutions. He provided an overview of the university's recent advancements, highlighting its commitment to the "High-level Education Quality Project for Opening Up to the World." This initiative focuses on fostering collaboration with world-class universities such as the University of Cambridge, particularly in high-level talent cultivation and technological innovation. The university’s strategic emphasis includes new energy, new materials, big health, and big security. Professor Yan reiterated the importance of expanding and deepening cooperation with the University of Warwick, particularly in the field of engineering, building upon the successful partnership in business education, and cultivating new growth points for strategic collaboration.
Professor Gu thanked the university for its warm hospitality and commended the significant progress achieved in recent years. He expressed the desire to further strengthen the partnership between the two universities by deepening collaboration in various fields, including joint student training and research in key areas such as new energy, new materials, and automation. He emphasized the importance of establishing a close, sustainable relationship.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on potential academic seminars, joint training programs for high-level talent across multiple disciplines, and the development of a Joint Multi-Degree Program (JMD) for international students studying in China. These initiatives aim to enhance bilateral academic cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Xiaopeng Li, Dean of the College of International Education; Professor Tao Liu, Vice Dean of the Graduate School; Professor Gaoxiang Lou, Deputy Dean of the Business School; Professor Zeyu Peng, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Accreditation at the Business School; Ms. Yamei Wang, Program Coordinator of the International Affairs Office; and Ms. Xiaoman Shi, Program Coordinator of the College of International Education.
